Sazerac Ingredients:
1.7 oz Rye whiskey (or cognac)
1 teaspoon cane sugar syrup
2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 dash absinthe (or pastis)
1 lemon twist
Realization of the Sazerac:
- Pour a teaspoon of absinthe or pastis into a chilled cocktail glass and swirl it around to coat the inside. Discard the excess.
- In a mixing glass, stir the whiskey, cane sugar syrup, and both bitters.
- Add ice to the mixing glass and stir for about 20 seconds to chill and slightly dilute the mixture.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared cocktail glass with absinthe or pastis.
- Garnish with a lemon twist, pinching it lightly to release its essential oil.
- Serve and enjoy!
- Note: Sazerac is a classic New Orleans drink, often preferred with Rye whiskey, but it can also be made with cognac.
